LAHORE: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has been asked by the Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) to turn over the land acquisition records of a significant housing project in Lahore, according to news sources on March 7.
The authority has been requested by the anti-corruption watchdog to provide documentation of all land transfers and purchases made in Allama Iqbal Town, Gulberg, Johar Town, Sabzazar, Garden Town, Upper Mall, Tajpura, and Gujjarpura between 2018 and 2023. The authority will look into exemption records, land acquisitions and transfers, general public plot allocations, compensation, exchange of plot allocations, development, mortgaged plots, original maps, and other relevant issues. Similarly to this, ACE will look into the issue of duplicate residential plot files in Johar Town and other places.
You should be aware that the LDA is the only regulatory body in charge of overseeing all residential land in Lahore. The LDA has forbade and warned numerous unauthorized residential and commercial projects against selling plots. The number of unlicensed and illegal housing projects has, however, increased recently. The Lahore Master Plan 2050 will regulate land use in the city, and the Punjab government has already ordered the LDA to carry it out.
